What a coincidence that Mr. Fano wrote to Jewishgen today! Yesterday my
curiosity was aroused by a recent inquiry to the French SIG about the
name "BELINFANTE" in connection with the Netherlands and South Africa.
(The person who had posted the inquiry signed her name merely
as "Laquita.") I went poking around the Internet looking for information
about BELINFANTEs. Among the several very interesting things I found was
an article about the lesbian writer Emmy J. Belinfante which was written
by an A. Beuno [sic] de Mesquita. This article appears at:
