I am sorry that it was necessary for the writer of the above response to
make a value judgement. It is very common on new Russian/Jewish graves to
have a photo or an engraving. Tradition is relative to where you come
from. My grandmother's grave had one and it was wonderful to see this
picture of her. It is interesting to see the clothing, the adornments,
and often the nearly defiant look on the faces.
