JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen JFRA Ra'anana April 24 #general

Schelly Talalay Dardashti <dardasht@...>

JFRA/ESRA Ra'anana wants everyone to have advance notice of its
April 24 program.

Although this program will address resources in a specific region,
it will be valuable for all researchers, because we never know where
those missing branchs of our families really went ... perhaps they
might be found in Southern Africa.

"Southern Africa Jewish Genealogical Resources" with Beryl Baleson,
co-Israeli coordinator and newsletter editor of the Southern Africa
SIG (Special Interest Group), and Louis Zetler, president of the
Galilee Genealogy Society, Tivon.

Southern Africa's Jews immigrated >from Lithuanian, Latvia, Russia
and Belarus. Learn about the Southern Africa SIG and the advances it
has made in making resources available to those looking for roots in
many communities in the region. Discover how the SA SIG is helping
to preserve the cultural heritage of this region, which runs >from
South Africa north, encompassing quite a number of other countries.

The program will also help those looking for lost branches of their
families who may have gone to this region. Clues may be found in
immigration and naturalization records of the communities.

Please come with many questions, and Beryl and Louis will attempt to
answer them all!

Please mark your calendars now.
