Mannheim Jewish Community Records -
This is the smallest and least interesting of the community collections, one
reel of film (Record Group) RG14.056M. The most significant lists in
this collection are 1940 community membership and a post-war list of
surviving Jews in the Mannheim area.
There is also detailed information on Nazi property (bicycles, radios) seizures.
I will send a more detailed finding aid to anyone who requests it.
Peter Lande, Washington, D.C. firstname.lastname@example.org
MODERATOR NOTE: Peter Lande is creating finding aids (content summaries by
document title) of microfilmed records at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum
in Washington, D.C. (HMM). Peter's translations and compilations of the German
document titles will be tremendously helpful for community-based Holocaust era
The microfilmed documents were grouped by Jewish Community for filming.
There may be several microfilm reels in the HMM "record group" for
each Jewish community. But the lists and documents on the microfilm reels
are not indexed. They are not organized by date, document type or other
Mr. Lande's "finding aids" are a valuable first step toward making the data
in the HMM community record microfilms more accessible to researchers.
We are preparing to add the first Mr. Lande's "finding aids" to the
GerSIG website. Additions will be announced here when Peter Lande's
"community collections" document lists are posted at our website. MOD 1
