Researching in Prostejov/Prossnitz #austria-czech

For those who are researching their ancestors in Prostejov (Prossnitz),
Moravia you could be interested in seeing the reply below that I received
from the Czech State Archives to a recent enquiry I made regarding the birth
record of my maternal grandfather Julius BRAUN born there in 1872.

further to your request, please be informed: The registers of Jewish
community of Prostejov are not preserved for the years 1829-1873. The most
of original volumes were destroyed by nacists during the WW II. Due to this
reason we are not able to convey you data you are looking for.
We recommend you to send your request to the district archives in Prostejov
(Statni okresni archiv Prostejov, Trebízského 1-3, 796 40 Prostejov), where
could be deposited the Residents Registration Cards, police records and the
list of census - documents - in which the information about family Braun
also could be preserved.

If anyone has already followed that path in their research, I would be
interested to learn of their experience.

The information that I already have of Julius >from the record of his marriage
to Mathilde LOEWE in Vienna in 1899 is that his parents were Eduard BRAUN
and Leni WEISS. I have also seen Julius and Mathilde's details on the
on-line Vienna cemetery database.
(Incidentally, does anyone know the origins of the Vienna department store
Eduard Braun & Co. ?)
