JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen STEINBERG family, Marijampol-Indianapolis-Louisville, late 1800s #general

I am trying to establish some ideas about the homeland of my great
grandmother, Ester Rachel Goldstein nee Sztenberg. The birth
certificate of her son, Abram, born in Marijampol, Lithuania suggests
that she was born in 1849, but we don't know about the names of her
parents, or her exact place of birth. Her husband, Moszwa Goldszteyn,
became Moses Goldstein when they moved to the United States
(Indianapolis) in the 1880s. The recent discovery of family documents
suggests that her brother, Julius preceded her arrival in the states by
as many as ten or more years. Julius Steinberg lived in Louisville, KY
from at least 1880 (and probably, >from 1870) until his death in 1919.
He had a number of children (Phillip, Bettie, Lilly, David, Tillie,
Jacob, Sam, Solomon and Nellie) who Ester's grandchildren called
"cousin." Do any of you have links to this family? I would be most
interested in hearing >from you if so.

Kind regards

Annemarie Jutel
