To members who have ancestors in Milwaukee Co., WI, the record breaking
flood that occurred on Thursday evening (7" in an hour+), flooded the
Milwaukee Co. Historical Society building. Because of construction that
was taking place, 50 boxes of historic records had been temporarily
stored on the basement floor. Civil and divorce records dating to the
19th century were damaged. Some were typed and others were handwritten.
Volunteers and staff are attempting to save them.
Luckily thousands of boxes >from 1836 to the 1930s remained dry inside a
