I am looking for the name of one of the "clandestine immigration" ships
that brought people >from Europe to Israel in the months prior to its
Independence. In particular, I am looking for a ship whose name sounds
something like "Nachshon Kaftelle". The ship was intercepted outside
Haifa by British forces and its passengers were sent to internment camps
in Cyprus.

. . . . I am looking for the ship and especially a passenger list. Any
information about this journey, where I might look for additional
information, or offices or organizations that should be contacted would
also be greatly appreciated. >>

==I doubt there was a passenger list and if there was, I doubt that all
the names on it would have been genuine.

==I suggest you write to the Immigration Museum in Haifa, and to the
Jewish Agency in Jerusalem for information about the ship, ots fate and
its passenger. The Jewish Agency (I think it's POB 92, Jerusalem) has
pretty accurate records of all clandestine immigrants. Yoiu can google for
the addresses, or look them up in jewishgen archives.
