Hi, fellow-Genner & Happy New Year!

While polishing my grandfather's Silver Kiddish Cup
for my son [his namesake], I decided for the first
time to look up the inscription written on it.

* 1st Cong. Peczenizyn K.U.V. 1904-1929 *

Using Shtetl Seeker, I found Peczenizyn located at
48'31" 24'54", just 6.2 miles West of Kolomyya and 8.4
miles NNW of Jablonow. Quite possibly this is my
grandfather's place of birth, as his birth is listed
in the JRI-Poland under Kolomyya with a mother from
Jablonow.

At the Jewish Genealogical Society of New York's
web-site, I found a burial society listing for:
First Congregation Anshe Peczenizyner Kranken Unt.
Verein (cem), a Landsmanshaft plot at Baron Hirsch on
Staten Island.

And at the JGSNY's site for Landsmanshaftn and other
town and country-related organizations incorporated in
New York County 1848-1920 in the AJHS collection of
New York County incorporations, we find a listing for:
Congregation Anshe Peczenizyner Kranken Unterstitsings
Verein 1904 - Document #395.

Has anyone heard of this Benevolent Congregation?
Since there was [obviously] a dinner celebrating 25
years of existance, this was more than a Burial
Society. What resources are available for me to learn
more about the town of Peczenizyn and/or this
Congregation/Fraternity/Landsmanshaftn?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and leads you
surely will send.

Best wishes in 5764,
Shellie Wiener
San Francisco, CA
