Cherney is a name taken >from the Russian/Polish word meaning 'Dark'. Bruna
is brown, which might mean the same thing, but the name isn't the same.
Brane, to me, is the Yiddish women's name Brina or Bryna and a third thing
all together.

Of course Brina could be called "Dark" or "Brown" also. Life is not easy
in genealogy-our ancestors did not conserve names.
