The Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles (JGSLA) will be meeting on
Sunday, December 14, 2003 at 1:30 p.m.
The program is: New York, New York: Research and Resources. Five
experienced JGSLA members: Barbara Algaze, Ron Arons, Sonia Nayle, Pamela
Weisberger and Gerry Winerman will share their research and resource
experiences and ideas to help with New York City genealogical research.
Most of us have roots in New York City and will find these presentations
useful.

The panel will provide guidance for researching cemeteries, libraries, the
Center for Jewish History (on-site and on-line research), the New York
City Municipal Archives (vital records, old maps and photographs),
National Archives, newspapers and prisons. Additionally, finding and
using NYC resources at the Los Angeles Family History Center (including
census, city directories, birth, marriage and death records) will be
discussed.

Thirty-minutes prior to the start of the meeting, JGSLA's traveling
Spizman library will be available for use by attendees.

Directions to the Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus are:

from Conejo Valley: take the US 101 South. Exit at Fallbrook Avenue off
ramp. Continue Left on Avenue San Luis to Fallbrook. Left on Fallbrook
Avenue to Vanowen (approximately 2 miles). Right on Vanowen - 2 blocks to
22622 Vanowen Street, West Hills (bldg. on right side of street).

from Eastern San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley: Los Angeles:
take the US 101 - North. Exit at Shoup Avenue. Continue Right on Ventura
Blvd to Shoup Avenue and Right on Shoup Avenue to Vanowen (approximately
1.5 miles). Turn Left on Vanowen - 2 blocks to 226622 Vanowen Street,
West Hills (bldg. on left side of street). Parking structure is on right
as you enter driveway.

from Los Angeles and points south: Take the 405 north to the 101
north/west and follow the directions above under the Eastern San Fernando
Valley and San Gabriel Valley.

from Simi Valley: take the 23 South to the 101 and go East following
directions >from the Conejo Valley above; or take the 118 East to Topanga
Canyon Blvd. Exit and go South to Vanowen. Turn West (right) on Vanowen to
22622 Vanowen.
