LOUISE HAJDENBERG

Dear Genners,

I have an audiotape of my grandmother >from the 1950s. She speaks in accented
English about 3 cities her family lived in and I am hoping someone might recognize
them as I write them phonetically.

town 1. sound like "My' den" or "Mi' den"
town 2. sounds like "Naie stu" or "Niesth tu" or "Naeh stu".

towns 1 and 2 were situated with a waterway in between "like St. Louis and East St.
Louis".

town 3 sounds like "Iz lav'" or "Is lav". I am pretty sure of the 3rd city.

If anyone knows where exactly these towns are situated that would be wonderful.

All cities are believed to be in the Ukraine.

Thanks for helping and you can reply either privately or to the group.
