I recently read "Rachel Calof's Story: Jewish Homesteader on the Northern Plains."
Calof came to the US >from Kiev in 1894 to marry a man she had never met. For the
next 23 years she lived on a farm in North Dakota. Though I don't have family in
that area, I found the book to be quite interesting as it explored Jewish farm
settlement and about Calof's experiences >from Kiev to farming and raising a Jewish
family.
The book is published by Indiana University Press, c. 1995. I have no financial
interests in this book.

Best Regards,
