I am looking for information for my maternal grandmother's family. She was
named Sorah Peshe MENUHIN and came >from Luitsin (now Ludza) in Latvia. Her
father's name is not inscribed on her tombstone. Sorah Peshe Menuhin was
married to my grandfather, Dovid Siskin YUKHA. They had eight children, six
sons and two daughters. Around 1898 all the family immigrated to England,
settling in the Leeds/Bradford area.
I am also researching the GOLDENBERGER (GOLDMAN) family. On my
grandfather's British naturalization papers it is listed that he, (Simon
Samuel Goldman), was born in Bucharest, Romania. His family then moved to
Kirovograd, Ukraine, and later, around 1896 they settled in Leeds, England,
where the name was changed to Goldman. I was told that Simon Samuel
Goldenberger had siblings who came to the U.S. at the turn of the century.
Their names are unknown.
If anyone can offer any information on either of these families I would be
really appreciative. I have listed these names on th JGFF.
