Bernard Kouchel, who founded the JewishGen View-Mate service, died
April 9, 2013 in Plantation, Broward County, Florida at the age of 85. Bernie was also the founder of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Broward County in 1988. Nancy Wyman, current President of that society, writes about Mr. Kouchel in a message posted April 10th in the JGDG (JewishGen Discussion Group). "His accomplishments are far too numerous to mention". "Recently recently, in 2012, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Program or Project Award >from IAJGS for the conception of the popular ViewMate Project, which by now must have close to 20,000 images archived." http://www.iajgs.org/awards/awards-2012.html "We extend our condolences to his beloved wife, Elaine and family.
