I recently received my Grandfather's birth document >from Poland. It states his
actual birth date and then the bris date.
For his entire life, we celebrated his birthday on the date of the bris, not his
actual date of birth.
My Aunt said that this was common and there is Jewish folklore(Talmudic reasons??)
that says that the (male) baby is not actually considered "born" until the bris
and actual baby naming ceremony.
Anybody heard anything about this?
