Any information anyone might have would be most appreciated.

My Grandmother (Johanna LEIFERMAN sp?)came to the United States in 1903. I
believe she was born in Berlin. She was married to my Grandfather (Johannes
VAN HESS) and resided in Altinessen, Germany prior to leaving for the US.
She converted to Catholocism and I believe her family disowned her.

I understand that Leiferman is derived >from a Yiddish word meaning
"messenger".

I appreciate assistance >from anyone who might assist my family in search of
our true heritage.
