How about Queens? Lots of hotels (we do have two airports and many business
areas) that are very convenient to subways and express buses as well as the
LIRR which goes into Penn Station (34th St). Please be aware (if you are
not) that areas in Queens are not called "Queens" but names like Forest
Hills, Flushing, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Astoria, Long Island City,
Elmhurst, etc.

You can try locations in Yonkers, White Plains, Elmsford and as far north as
Brewster (although Brewster is at least an hour by train to NYC providing
there are no delays). I would recommend that you try anywhere in lower
Westchester County. There are plenty of hotels in White Plains, Tarrytown
and Elmsford which are going to be less expensive than those in NYC. Once in
NYC the fastest way to travel is either on foot or by subway.
