On a page of testimony, the submitter's relationship was given, in

Inquiries to the list about the meaning of a foreign-language word
are surprisingly frequent on jewishgen. But I've never understood
why, when In most cases the quickest way to get the answer is to do
what I just did -- namely, ask Google.

I don't know Polish at all, so I simply typed in the following:
<wnuczka ( Polish word)> The very first item that came up informed
me -- without even having to go to the recommended url -- that the
Polish word wnuczka means "granddaughter."

Getting the answer >from Google is often far quicker than sending a
message to the list -- and also reduces by one the large number of
messages that fellow list members have to deal with! (Yes, yes, I
know.... to make this point I had to burden the list with one more
message..... But I think it was worth making.)
