Omry, the National Archives facility in Manhattan has these indexes and
passenger arrival lists on microfilm for ships that arrived around 1940
at the Port of New York:

-- book index, 1906-1942 (series T612)
-- Soundex index, 1902 - 1943 (series T621)
-- ship passenger arrival lists, 1897-1957 (series T715)

They are all in Record Group (RG) 85.3.1. Details are at
