Dear Genners,
On my great aunt's death certificate my great grandmother recorded her
maiden name as ALPILE. Austria (the Austro-Hungarian Empire) is
written as her country of origin. The town is unknown. My great
grandmother spoke almost no Engish, only Yiddish. I do not know the
original Hebrew surname. Does anyone recognize this name? (The
closest spelling on jri-Poland is ALWEIL.) Having never seen/heard of
this name, I really would like direction.
