Jewish Sheltering Home, 313-315-317 S. 3rd St., Philadelphia, PA, closed in
1951. Records were sent to the Philadelphia Geriatric Center, 5301 Old York
Road, to the Home For Jewish Aged. Then this closed and became the Abramson
Center for Jewish Life, and Temple University took over the Philadelphia
Geriatric Center and then closed it. Neither the Abramson Center nor the
Temple Univ. have the records >from the Sheltering Home. The Balch Institute
does not have the records. The Tuttleman Library at Gratz University does
not have the records. Dinah Pierstein, my grandmother, died in the
Sheltering Home in 1930. None of the Jewish cemeteries or funeral homes in
the area have the burial record. And Pennsylvania Vital Records have to
have the exact day, month, and year to give a death certificate. Does
anyone know where the Sheltering Home records are??
