I found at the Canadian National Archives site reference to records of persons
crossing into to Canada >from the US beginning in 1908.
My grandparents made several trips to and >from New York and Montreal between
1909 and 1916, either together or separately (evidence in the St. Albans records
of trips in the US direction).
I made the assumption that they traveled by train and ordered records of entry
points at Rouses Point, NY and St. Albans, VT as my best guess. Nothing found
for either of their names.
If they did, indeed, travel by train >from NY to Montreal, where would their
border crossing into Canada be likely, if not those two places?
