In the response to the inquiry on this family, Fritz Neubauer, North Germany
talked about a German Memorial Book. How do I get a copy of this book, or
is it available in a database. I know of several of my husband's family that
lost their lives at Auschwitz and Teresenstat. The family name was BLATT.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My comment:

Dear Judy,

the full title of the book I mentioned is

Gedenkbuch. Opfer der Verfolgung der Juden
unter der nationalsozialistischen Gewaltherrschaft
in Deutschland 1933-1945, 2nd edition, 2006.

It is not yet available on line, but most of the data are also
accessible through the Yad Vashem web site, but not all.
It has 30 entries for the family name BLATT, the first one is listed
here as an example:

*BLATT*, Achim Aron
born 07.01.1938 in Breslau
last residence in Breslau
Deportation >from Breslau to Kowno
on 25. Nov 1941
died on 29. Nov 1941, Kowno

If you provide me with more details of the names you are looking for, I
can tell you whether there are entries for these names.

Since the Memorial Book has been discussed previously on the the German
Special Interest Group List (GerSIG), you can get to this information by
looking for "German Memorial Book" in the the JewishGen Discussion
Group Message Archives, particularly my message >from May 28, 2006. also
there are separate Memorial Books for the Theresienstadt deportees
depending on whether they were deported >from what was German territory
in 1937, or >from the territory which is now the Czech Republic or >from
the territory which is now Austria. There is another Memorial Book for
the deportees to the Baltic states such as Achim Aron BLATT above.
