INTRO - researching GRAUMAN family from Brodnica, now Poland; COHEN family from Duisburg, Germany #germany

Hello GerSig,
I recently joined the group. I have been doing genealogy research for
about 18 months. I consider myself to be a beginner in doing German
Jewish Genealogy research. I live in rural Missouri, United States.
My native language is English. I consider myself intermediate in using
a computer. My experience in using the Internet is extensive.

I have identified the names and birth and death dates of all of my
grandparents, six of my great grandparents, and seven of my great
great grandparents. I have also identified the names and birth
dates of third, fourth, and fifth great grandfathers (GRAUMAN,

My JGFF Researcher ID number is 616088.

The family names and ancestral towns that I have entered in the JGFF
(JewishGen Family Finder) are:
1 BLOCK - Schopfloch to New York in 1854, to Louisville KY by 1860.
2 COHEN - Duisburg .
3 GRAUMAN - Brodnica, sailed >from Bremen to New York in 1850 , to
Louisville by 1860, to Marvell and Helena Arkansas in the 1900's.
4 KOCH - Wallerstein
5 LAZARUS - Pfungstadt, sailed >from Antwerp to New York 1850,
to Oregon and Idaho in 1850's and 1860's, to Louisville by 1869.
6 OBERDORFER - Wallerstein

One of my primary research goals is to find more information on the
ancestors of Amelia COHEN (born 1818 possibly in Duisburg,
father-Hirsch COHEN). She married George GRAUMAN and lived
in Louisville, KY in 1870. Another goal is to find where the
Isadore GRAUMAN family may have lived other than Brodnica and
to determine the birthplace of Isador's wife, Esther DAVIDSON GRAUMAN.
I believe she may be the same person listed as Ernstine GRAUMANN
in the Gersig Name Adoption List Index, Town Strasburg (now Brodnica).
I would like to know why she is listed there as a widow.
