Landsmanshaften, organizations which collect dues and
own real estate in the form of cemetery plots must be
registered with the State. When disbanding they must
contact the State in order to return their assets.
They usually hire lawyers to take care of this onerous
duty. I leave it to your good sense to discover what
some societies do to avoid this difficult procedure.
Unfortunately, the valuable records of these societies
are lost to archivists.
