Dear Mimi & fellow genners,

A review of the JewishGen info file [mentioned below] when compaired against the Social Security Online Number Allocations web-page [also below] reveals that the JewishGen file is out of date. Both my California-born sons have numbers that begin with '6', which according to JewishGen is part of the unassigned number range. >from the Number Allocation site it appears that numbers beginning as high as 765 [Arizona] are currently in use. Several states now have two or three different ranges assigned to them. For instance North Carolina has 232[shared with WVa], 237-246 and 681-690. Until the table is updated in the JewishGen info files, I guess the Social Security web-page is the best resource. Shellie Wiener San Francisco, CA --
