Re: INTRO - Researching WEIL family of Steinheim #germany

Dear Lucy,
there are several hints that the Steinheim of your ancestors is
Steinheim, Hoexter, Westfalen
and not Steinheim am Main, Offenbach a.M. Co., Hessen, since 1974 part
of the city of Hanau.
In the census of May 1939 I found 7 WEILs, 3 HIRSCHLAND and 1 HERZFELD
born in Steinheim, Westphelia.
For the Hessian Steinheim I couldn't find any WEIL or HIRSCHLAND.

If I were you I would start with the vital records on microfilm in a
family history center. The familysearch catalogue says the Jews of the
Westphalian Steinheim were registered by the catholics of Saint Mary,
call number 375861 (Kirchenbuch, 1621-1926, Katholische Kirche Sankt
Marien Steinheim (Kr. Hoexter)). Good luck!

I'd still like to learn more about the other names on that side of the

What I know of my German Jewish ancestors so far is: Herz HERZFELD and
Zarle HERZ (Hirschland?) had daughter Fanny. Fanny HERZ and Abraham WEIL
had 4 children including sons including..<snip>
