JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen Looking for RACUSIN family (Latvia, then Pennsylvania) #general

Eva Radding

I am looking for descendents Berre RACUSIN, originally >from Zagare, Latvia.
Family lore says his children included Maurice Jay RACUSIN, an investigative
reporter for the New York Herald Tribune (born Glen Riddle, PA, maybe 1892,
maybe 1889, died 1962 New York), and daughters who married men with the last

Other research has led me to the following information:

Rebecka (b. about 1878, Russia) married Charles PROSS. Their son Julius
(Jules) PROSS died in Newark, NJ, in 1988. Their daughter Maola (died 1986)
married Dr. Jerome KAUFMAN, a cardiologist in Newark, NJ. I have not learned
of any children of either Julius or Maola.

Lottie (b. about 1861 in Russia/Latvia) married Samuel LASHMAN. Their
children were Fannie, Anna, Morris, William Mitchell, and L. Edward).
William Mitchell Lashman, who was born in Riga, Latvia, later lived in
Camden, NJ. L. Edward Lashman lived in New Orleans.

Yette (b. about 1872 in Russia) married Louis CADES. They lived in Camden
1900 and 1920.

Maurice Jay RACUSIN's 1962 obituary gives his parents' names as Benjamin and
Yetive RACUSIN, says he was unmarried, and lists his survivors as his

William RACUSIN of Mt. Pleasant, PA

Samuel RACUSIN of Newark, NJ

Becky PROSS of Montclair, NJ (that at least matches the information above)

Fanny SMITH of Irvington, NJ (Husband Alex, daughter Henrietta, according to
census data)

Sarah STERN of Washington, DC

Reba GROSSMAN of Lexington, VA

Maybe all of these people were siblings, but the birth years range >from 1861
in Russia to at least 1897 in Pennsylvania. My theory is that they might
have been either two different generations or stepsiblings. I am trying to
sort everyone out, as well as learn more about the supposed ancestor, Berre

If any of this information matches anyone you know of, please let contact
