JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen POLONSKY vital records from Cherkasy and Shpola #general

Jeffrey Mark Paull

During the course of researching my family's POLONSKY ancestry for the book I am
writing, I have assembled a large and fairly complete database of surviving vital
records, including birth, death, and marriage records for individuals with the
POLONSKY surname, >from the towns of Cherkasy and Shpola, in the Ukraine. There are
256 individual birth records, 36 death records, and 37 marriage records, spanning
the years >from 1837 to 1914. Most of these vital records also provide the parents'
names. For each record, I have a digital photo of the original vital record, in
Russian, as well as the English translation.

The process of identifying, photographing, translating, and organizing these vital
records >from the Ukrainian archives was quite laborious, costly, and time-
consuming, but having done so, I believe it is important to make these vital
records available and accessible to anyone researching the POLONSKY surname.
