I was intrigued by Jeff Arkin's post - my parents too were first cousins
once removed, I always knew there was a vague relationship but it needed a
Polish researcher to clarify it.They even had different surnames ie Jacobs
and Jacobus but I found they were both Jakubowicz in fact.

More remarkable was the fact I discovered that my mothers parents were first
cousins and both were first cousins to my father. Instead of 16 great
great grandparents - I have only 10. There is no insanity in my family -
unless genealogy can be classified as an aberration.
