There is an abandoned Jewish Cemetery in Santa Maria Maior , Funchal,
Ilha da Madeira. Burials took place >from 1854 until 1976. See list of
internments below:
https://findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=2205083

Besides the Jewish Cemetery, Ilha da Madeira has 4 other cemeteries but
your ancestors name is neither on the The JewishGen Online Worldwide
Burial Registry or Billion Graves List.

Contact the City Archives to help you find your ancestor's grave at:

Searching for the grave of my ancestor Herman COHEN aka Herman FREUNDLICH
who died in 1867 off the coast of Africa. He was born in Stolp in Pommern,
Germany and joined the merchant marine in England sometime before 1867
and lived in Sherboro, Africa and died on the Island of Madeira.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
