JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen Help: Toronto Jewish Community Conversion Records? #general

Michael Waas

I am helping a client research her family. She was born to a non-Jewish
Quebecois woman, last name DUMAS/DUMAIS in Toronto and adopted by a Jewish
family last name PLATNICK. I would be happy to provide first names and dates
in private but in the interest of protecting my client, I will not be
providing first names at this time.

Her birth was in 1960 in Toronto. As a baby, she was converted to Judaism by
her parents. We are interested in knowing if records exist in the Toronto
Jewish Community of conversions and if so, what kind of records might be
contained within them. We are looking for any bit of information that can
help her track down her birth mother for information on medical history.

The only other information I have that I can share publicly is that her
parents were unaffiliated at the time, but came >from a Jewish family that
was fairly prominent in the Toronto Jewish community.

Israel and Mollie EDELL were her mother's aunt and uncle and as I understand
it >from her, they were quite big in the Jewish community there.

Best Regards,
