JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen [USA] 20-Year Old Thomas Legislative Site Being Replaced With New Official Source for Federal Legislative Information #general

Jan Meisels Allen

For 20-years the US Library of Congress had the original website created by the
Library of Congress to provide complete legislative information >from the
United States Congress. It is being replaced with a new government site the official source for federal legislative
information that all of the information on will be integrated
into the beta site. To read more about the site go to: Since November 19th if one goes to the
Thomas site either or
the person will be redirected to the new site. For the time being there is
a link >from the new site back to the Thomas site. The site will
be fully retired the end 2014. If you have bookmarked internal pages of you can still access them without being redirected to the new
site until the site is retired.

To learn more about the system, online trainings [webinars]
are available: January 16, March 11, and May 15. To register go

I tried the new site by placing in the search site, bill number SB 676 --one
of the Death Master File bills we are monitoring. What came up was not just
this bill but a Congressional Record notice of a previous co-sponsor asking
to have their name removed, and a number of bills that do not appear to have
anything to do with SB 676- guess I will have to register for one of the
training sessions.

What is included on

Each piece of legislation has a landing page; the Congressional Record,
Committee Information, Committee Reports, Profiles of Members of Congress
[This is not something available on] and a section on the
Legislative Process
