I am interested in the possible meaning of a Jewish middle name. The story starts with a man born in a town in the Ottoman Empire in the 1860s whose middle name was Baraf. He came to England and his first son was born in 1892 and his middle name was also Baraf but none of his other children were given that name. Newspaper reports of the family sometimes print it as B'Araf and Be'Haraf.
I can't find anything like it in my Hebrew-English Dictionary, nor in my Yiddish-English Dictionary.
