JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen Re: Seeking US Arrival Certification Index #general <davestra@...>

That's an interesting question. It seems like there should be a way to
do what you want to do. I learned a lot >from David Oseas' reply and
the link he included,

If I were doing this research, I might try plugging the number
from the passenger manifest into the keyword field on
or some other service that has a search engine for naturalization
records. I have no idea if that will work.

If that didn't work, I think I would try to determine (or guess)
the court or court district where she was naturalized. Then I
would BROWSE through's Declaration of Intention
records for that court or court district, using the date I had
from the passenger manifest. I would want to see if I found a
record that matched the surname and the ship name and date.
It's labor intensive but it's probably what I would do.

There might be another way to do this but I don't know what it is.

So... what I'm wondering is whether anyone knows of an index that
reverses this number to get you to the name of the person whose
arrival is being certified.
