JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen RE: seeking NYC marriage certificate - online free ordering #general

I found out last month that one can also order marriage, death, and birth
records on familysearch.org - up to 5 records a month for free.
stevemorse.org has a search engine for IGG (Italian Genealogy Group) for New
York City area documents which will give the birth, death, or marriage
certificate number as well as the film roll and other information needed to
order the document. Haven't tried it yet, but I imagine other state information
can be gotten the same way through FamilySearch's site with the information
provided there. They say it takes 4-6 weeks but I got mine in 3-4 days. To
