I am researching the CAMONDO Family -- Sephardi Jews >from Venice who
moved to Istanbul and later to Paris. Known in their day as the
Rothschilds of the East, the CAMONDOS were an extremely wealthy and
cultured banking family who mingled with Paris high society. Comte
Moise de CAMONDO's mansion near Parc Monceau in Paris is now open to
the public as the Musee Nissim de Camondo.
The count died in 1935; during the War, his heirs were seized by the
Nazis and murdered at Auschwitz. As far as I know, there are no
survivors of the family.
I'd like to hear >from anyone who has knowledge of the history and
genealogy of this distinguished family. Thank you.
