JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen JGS of Greater Orlando Presents: "What I Learned at the World's Top Jewish Genealogical Event," on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 #general

Lin <lin2@...>

Join the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Orlando (JGSGO) for a program featuring members of our society who attended the 2015 International Conference of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) in Jerusalem a few weeks ago. Next August the conference will be in Seattle, Washington, and in July, 2017, this fabulous event is coming here to Disney's Swan Hotel in Central Florida! The IAJGS conference offers hundreds of genealogists the chance to learn >from top Jewish genealogy speakers and experts and jump start their own research efforts.

The JGSGO is fortunate to have IAJGS President, Marlis GLASER HUMPHREY,
as a member. She and JGSGO members Diana CHASAN van den BOOGARD,
Gloria Schwartzman GREEN, and Barry SIEGER will share what they learned
at the conference, including some unexpected and very interesting family
connections. This meeting is your chance to hear the latest in Jewish
genealogy topics, and learn new tools and techniques. It's also important
for us to begin preparing for the 2017 Conference that will showcase
Central Florida and offer us the chance to make progress in our own
research.

Marlis Glaser Humphrey is President of the International Association of
Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS), a former Vice President of the
Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Orlando (JGSGO), and also
President of the Florida State Genealogical Society (FSGS). Marlis
recently received the FSGS 2014 Distinguished Service award. She has
successfully discovered all of her ancestral shtetls. Marlis is founder
of myAncestories, a company that helps genealogists create family
histories to treasure. Diana, Gloria, and Barry are also experienced
Jewish genealogists who have found a considerable amount of their
families' stories. You will want to take lots of notes at this meeting
to help you in your research. Handouts >from some of the IAJGS lectures
will be provided.

Prior to the program, starting at 6:30 P.M., there will be time for
newcomers to network and to receive free consulting assistance or
mentoring >from a Jewish genealogy maven.

TIME: 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. (6:30 P.M. for networking and consulting
