What is the origin of the female given name Caden, possibly spelled
kuf-alef-dalet-yud-nun? (but not the neo-gaelic male name.)
It seems to have been used in ottoman sephardic communities,
specifically rhodes.
Greek: Kadina

probably short of Greek: "Aikaterineh" [= Hekaterine]
became later Latin: "Catherina".

The Latin [christian] form ignores the probable root [the goddes] "Hekate",
and inserted the "th" for "t" suggesting Gr. "katharos" [pure] as a source.
