I have posted a marriage record >from Biala Podlaska, Poland dated 1826. Groom is
Icek Hersz Aronowicz HOFFER., age 19. Bride is Pessia PREKUPNIK, age 18. I am
interested in corroborating the ages of bride and groom, parents' names,
occupation of groom and bride. There is a strange discrepancy betweeen the groom's
name which appears as ICKHOFF or ICKHOLF in the record and his name in the
Hebrew/Yiddish signature which is HOFFER. Also the surname Ickholf is not found any
where in Poland. See Alexander Beider, A Dictionary of Surnames >from the Kingdom of
Poland (1996). This is a bit of a mystery to me. Wondering if others see this and
