JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen (UK and Ireland) Ancestry Offering Free Access to UK and Ireland Records Through 9 October #general

Jan Meisels Allen

Ancestry UK is offering free access to their over one billion UK and Ireland
records through 9 October 2016 23:59 BST. If you try to search collections
other than the featured collections you will be directed to subscribe.

To access the site go to: http://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/free-access
Place a given and surname you are researching and click "search free." The
results page has the list of records found for your search with a green
"view" button and Free access written below the word view. If you wish to
save the record to your computer, right click on your mouse and select
"save image as" and save it where you want on your computer.

Once you open the "view, free access" if you chose the option on screen left
that says to "sign up to save this record," you will be directed to provide
your credit card for a free 14 day trial which you must then advise Ancestry
UK and Ireland at the end of the trial (or before) that you do not wish to
be charged and cancelling the subscription. There is a similar option on
the screen right that says start free trial. Neither of these two options
are the weekend Free Access. Be alert to which you want and what you click
on.

I have no affiliation with Ancestry and am posting this solely for the
