I do know that it does happen back 100 years plus. But I would not
call it common. In one of my families, that the two villages were
less then a mile apart and intermarriage between the two towns
happened and I am sure that family lines got mixed. But for modern
times, look at the birth certificate for Kentucky(within the last 50
years), not kidding, it asks you if the father and mother are related
to each other and how. Ewwwwwww

How common would it be for relatives to marry? I know that marriage
between first cousins may be prohibited by many states, but I've
heard of first cousin marriages and it is not necessarily prohibited
in Judaism. In general, what is the situation when cousins (not
necessarily first) marry?
