JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen ORLOW family from Kherson, Ukraine #general

Lin <lin2@...>

I am looking for information on Michael "Misha" ORLOW >from Kherson, Ukraine
and especially his family. My great aunt Klara LEVI ORLOW, >from Markt
Berolzheim and later Nuremberg, Germany, married Michael Orlow and they
later divorced. I would guess they married about 1910 and divorced in the
late 1920s or early 1930s. I'm not sure when they married, but they must
have divorced in the 1930s. Evidently, he then moved to Vienna where he
played in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (according to his great
granddaughter). He was a violinist.

Misha was born in November 1882 and died in Buchenwald on 2 January 1940
at Buchenwald and according to JOWBR is buried in the Wiener Zentralfiedhoff.

I'd like out about his family in Ukraine if it is possible. On her Yad
Vashem testimony, his daughter, Bella ORLOW PFIFFERLING did not fill in the
names of his parents, and only Russia for his birth place. She gave very
detailed testimony for her aunts and uncles who died, so I am sure she did
not know his parents' names, nor any more about his birth place.

His daughters and wife spelled the name ORLOW and I saw a couple letters
where he did too. But on one letter to his daughter >from Vienna he spelled
it Orlof or Orloff.

If you know of the ORLOW family in Kherson, please let me know.
Thank you so much!
