The city Mara Fein asks about is Mogilev-Podolskiy, which is in the
former Podolia gubernia of the Russian Empire. It lies on the Dnester
river, opposite the country of Moldova. The capital of Podolia was
Kamenets-Podolskiy. Most of Podolia, including these two cities, is
now in Ukraine.
