Malka (Molly) CHALOWSKY/CHELOVSKY/CHALOWSKIJ born 1896-97, probably in or
near Krivoye Ozero (Krivizer), then in Podolia, now in Ukraine, immigrated
to US before 1917. She married Sol GOLDSTEIN in New York City November 17,
1917. 1915 New York State Census says she had been in the US for two
years. New York Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate (April 3, 1926)
give mother's name as Anna GOLDBERG/GOLDENBERG. 1909 passenger record for
sister Chaike (Ida) CHELOWSKI says her mother Sure CHALOWSKA was living in
Krivoye Ozero. Family story says they were half-sisters.

I know she didn't swim across the Atlantic, but sometimes I wonder. I have
spent years searching Ellis Island (including using Steve Morris' site),
Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, NARA in every conceivable way, with no success.
All documents I have say she was born in "Russia;" sister Chaike and brother
Hershel were born in Krivoye Ozero.
