We have in our ISAACS family an Ashkenazi Machzor published in
Amsterdam by Chaim Drucker dated 5473 (1712/1713). It contains a list
of family birth dates written in the front.
We also have some doubt in the family as to whether the ISAACS family
originated in LISSA Holland or LISSA Poland. It is of course possible
that both are true and that they moved >from one Lissa to the other
however Dutch enquiries have revealed no trace in Holland and the
Polish town had a significant Jewish population.
How widespread would the use of such a machzor be? Would a Dutch
published volume be used in Poland at that time?
