"The Margarine Moonshiners >from Minsk" and "Conducting Story-Driven
Research" will be the topics of two lectures by genealogist Tammy A.
Hepps at the Sunday, March 24, 2019, meeting of the Jewish Genealogical
Society of Illinois at Temple Beth-El, 3610 Dundee Road, Northbrook,
Ill.

---At 1 p.m.: In "The Margarine Moonshiners >from Minsk," Hepps offers a
"rollicking genealogical journey tracing a group of brothers and
brothers-in-law recently emigrated >from Minsk, who set out to sell
margarine as butter in defiance of one of the stranger pieces of
legislation ever passed." Part of the action in this family history
adventure takes place in Chicago.

---At 2:30 p.m.: In the second presentation, "Conducting Story-Driven
Research," she explains how thinking of your family history research
like a storyteller can make you a better researcher and can help you
think of questions to ask about your family history that you might not
have thought of before.

Tammy A. Hepps is a technologist, genealogist and storyteller. The
creator of Treelines.com, a family story-sharing website, and winner of
the RootsTech Developer Challenge, she lectures internationally about
combining creative research, cutting-edge technology and meaningful
storytelling to make family history more engaging.
