The Brooklyn Public Library, https://www.bklynlibrary.org/, was founded in
1896, and is the nation's sixth largest public library serving over one
million patrons in 59 locations. The library recently announced that 41
different "borough" publications with thousands of old newspaper articles

from 1835-1999 will be available online through the Library's digital

archives. Twenty-one titles are already digitized and the remaining 20
titles will be uploaded soon-six-eight weeks.

Once the digitization is complete the public will be able to access the
clips for free on the host site, Newspapers.com*, but for the first three
years, access will only be at one of the Brooklyn Public Library or one of
its branches. After three years they will be accessible for free anywhere in
the world. For now those wanting to use the collection will have to use
either a designated Brooklyn Public Library computer, or connect their
laptop to the library's WiFi for unrestricted access.

Currently, old issues of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle are online and access is
