JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen Joseph and Drana Sher (Share), mid-1800's in Kadan (Kaunas), Lithuania #general

Rick Cohen

I am seeking information of any kind, in regard to my above-named
paternal g-g-grandparents, particularly anything reliable as to
dates/locations of their births/deaths. I have good information on my
great-grandparents, Morris (Maurice Eleazar) Sher (born1865 in Kadan
(Kaunas) Lithuania;died 1930 in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota),
and his wife Fannie Kolansky (Frima Kurland), b.1875 in Kadan, died
8th of August, Hennepin Co., Minnesota. Also, I know that Drana Sher's
maiden name MIGHT have been Garber, and that her sisters' married
names were Sarah Goldman and Molly Goldberg. There was another sister,
Hannah, and a brother Sam. I have not been able to find anything on
Sarah Goldman, or siblings Hannah and Sam.

The name Sher has been variously spelled as Sherr
and Share. For example, my great-grandfather Morris Sher's brother
Hymen Louis spelled his last name Share. He and his wife Lena (maiden
name, I think: Mervitz), are buried in Richfield, Minnesota, along
with the other Sher's with whom I'm familiar. I know that Drana's
sister Molly was married to Shorl Hersh Goldberg, the two of whom I
easily found on Ancestry. Also, Frima Kurland's last name seems to
have been spelled in a variety of ways: Karlanzik and variations
thereof, etc. (In the U.S. censuses, she used the first name of
Fannie.)

The slightest of hints or guesses by any of you, would be
inexpressibly appreciated.
